The Believers For Change Healing Through Forgiveness program teaches that anger and grudges have physical health consequences that cannot be ignored.
“As a result of bad choices —such as joining and becoming leaders in street gangs — both Lavansa and I wasted years, ruined lives, and spent time in prison. Today we believe in God, we believe in ourselves, and we believe change is possible. These beliefs led us to call our organization Believers For Change.
“After years of mass incarceration in the U.S., it has become clear that prison isn't the sole answer to crime in America. We will work with both DOC (Department of Corrections) and DCC (Division of Community Corrections) to offer individuals incarcerated—and those returned and returning to the community—with programs and services that are effective and sustainable. Our Healing Through Forgiveness program uses a combination of biblical teaching and scientific research to show how forgiving others and yourself can heal the mind, body, and soul.”
The Healing Through Forgiveness is designed to take 12 weeks depending on the participant’s schedule. This is a weekly program with sessions held one time per week, which is the same model that Sylvester received in prison. There is a recommended modification to this model, only if needed, which can be done in 12 weeks, with two sessions per week.
Believers also offer a Family Restoration After Prison program that focuses on mending the hurt and pain created by the separation of parents and children due to incarceration.
This one-page overview outlines the foundation of our 12-week program designed to bring healing through biblical forgiveness and research-backed techniques.
Taught by founders Sylvester and Lavansa Jackson—both living testimonies of redemption—the program offers powerful tools to help individuals heal emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. It’s more than education; it’s transformation.
